The Archer County News is looking for a self-motivated Reporter to join our team in Archer City. A qualified candidate should have reliable transportation, strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
Other responsibilities include:
- Covering the sporting events and athletes of the three county high schools.
- Helping the editorial team cover and report on city council and school board meetings as assigned.
- Helping produce six different special sections throughout the year.
- Taking photos of county events as needed.
- Proofreading the paper and checking advertisements for correct information.
- Answering phones and helping with other office tasks as needed.
- We are looking for a college graduate with a knowledge of AP style
- The ability to meet deadlines and knowledge of Adobe suite
- Someone with at least two years of journalism experience.
- Experience with a camera is preferred but not required.
The Archer County News covers the municipalities of Archer City, Holliday, Lakeside City, Megargel, Scotland and Windthorst as well Archer City ISD, Holliday ISD and Windthorst ISD. The publication produces 51 editions and six special sections annually.
This position will be paid based on experience with opportunities to grow within the organization. The position also includes PTO, paid holidays, and expense reimbursement.
