LA Times seeks business of Hollywood reporter

August 9, 2023

Posted by Chris Roush

The Los Angeles Times is looking to hire experienced entertainment industry reporters to cover the business of Hollywood and the changing media landscape. Assignments may involve tracking developments at such iconic studios as Walt Disney Co. and Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as examining how Netflix and other tech giants are disrupting and transforming the film and television industries. Coverage may include labor — the many unions involved in the creation of film entertainment and the impact of labor strikes on workers, employers and consumers.

Through a mix of scoops, features and enterprise journalism, these reporters will be expected to illuminate the people and trends inside businesses grappling with new distribution models, the evolution of streaming and media consolidation.

These positions offer a chance to join a team that’s been setting the pace and agenda for coverage of Hollywood, from its powerful work on the fatal tragedy on the set of “Rust” (which made it a Pulitzer finalist) to its game-changing exposé of the group behind the Golden Globes. We’re investing and expanding as we build on this success, and we’re seeking exceptional reporters to help us grow our audience in Hollywood.
