The Bangor Daily News is seeking a part-time editor to oversee our digital news products on the weekends.
This key role is a new addition to the digital team at the heart of our newsroom that packages, publishes and promotes all our content.
The weekend editor will curate the bangordailynews.com homepage and social accounts for maximum audience and news value; write and edit headlines; scan the wires for compelling news; write quick-hit breaking news; and execute quality control and ensure our site is fresh, compelling and aimed at meeting the needs of our statewide audience.
If you’re the right person for this challenge, this is how we would describe you: You are an aggressive self-starter who loves the pace of digital news. You understand SEO, and how to present content on different social media networks. You get how people actually read the news, and are obsessed with meeting, and exceeding, their expectations. Chances are you have unusually strong opinions about grammar that almost no one else cares about. (Don’t worry. We care.)
You’d be joining a digitally focused statewide news organization in its fourth generation of local ownership. We believe that there’s a bright future for local newsrooms that invest in good journalism and put their audiences first. This role is a key part of that vision.
The position is weekend day shift.
