The New York Times seeks a senior video producer, employee storytelling

Our Culture & Communications team is looking for a talented video content strategist and creator who will partner with us and leaders across The Times to ensure we support employees to help them grow, thrive and feel a sense of inclusion and connection to our organization. You must be adept at crafting engaging, employee-centric videos for a range of platforms. You are an inspirational visual storyteller, with a passion for creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment that connects employees to the organization

The Senior Video Producer will be managing creative and logistical aspects of video productions from start to finish. They will brainstorm video concepts and produce high-quality branded content video projects, including: conducting research, managing partnerships with a network of production resources, brainstorming, conception of and/or overseeing branded video content shoots and post-production. The person in this role will partner with the Culture & Communications team and across The Times to pitch and present videos and ensure stakeholder/partner satisfaction. The right candidate will have a knack for storytelling and problem-solving with a positive, can-do attitude.

The Senior Video Producer is also responsible for the technical direction and management of internal and executive level events. Working in partnership with the Executive Director of Cultural Events and Experiences, they will be responsible for onboarding and managing a team of audio and video professionals to support this work to deliver flawlessly executed hybrid events.

The Senior Video Producer will be a leader of visual storytelling on the Culture & Communications team, reporting to the Executive Director of Employee Storytelling & Content Strategy. The role will be based in New York City.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Partner with communications and business department colleagues and leaders across The Times to identify and develop compelling visual stories and content that contribute to building an inclusive and connected culture
  • Film and edit high-quality visual storytelling content that informs, engages and inspires employees across the organization
  • Lead the technical production of in-house livestream events; including managing freelancers as needed
  • Understand the diverse needs and perspectives of internal stakeholders and take that into account when creating visual content (i.e., videos)
  • Demonstrate creative thought leadership, keeping ahead of trends and providing ideas for innovation and evolution
  • Ability to translate pre-existing visual principles into content that is both on-brand and imaginative
  • Be a trusted advisor and culture champion across the organization, tirelessly promoting our internal story and a culture aligned to our values and behaviors

Basic Qualifications — video creation (production, filming, editing, and post production):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in digital communications, film/TV, media/multimedia
  • 7 years of corporate video production experience
  • Experience developing compelling videos that engage employees, foster culture building and drive change
  • Keen business sense, and an intimate knowledge of all aspects of corporate video production and editing.
  • Experience field and line producing for branded content or corporate production
  • Experience managing a slate of multiple projects simultaneously
  • Commitment to quality and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the creative process from concept to launch
  • Experience in digital media workflows and technology
  • Experience guiding/advising teams on best practices related to multimedia asset storage, organization and sharing

Basic Qualifications — Live Events Production:

  • Experience producing high quality live streaming productions
  • Strong technical expertise in producing multi-camera live video shoots
  • Knowledge and understanding of audio/video production and live streaming equipment
  • Experience managing production crews (camera operators, lighting techs, graphics operators) in a corporate setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in digital communications, film/TV, media/multimedia
  • 9+ years of corporate video production experience
  • Track record of continuously raising the bar and challenging the status quo/conventional thinking around visual storytelling
  • Highly innovative, creative and collaborative problem solver, with a bias toward action and impact
  • Track record of building relationships with cross-functional teams and professionals at all levels, demonstrating sensitivity, empathy and understanding for diverse points of views
  • Team player who inspires and makes others better. You are always open, honest, and direct.
  • Ability to thrive within a culture that values inclusion, hard work, humility, collaboration and concern for the well-being of others
  • A top-notch sense of humor

The annual base pay range for this role is between $85,000.00 and $115,000.00.
