Wall Street Journal editor Emma Tucker sent out the following on Friday:
Dear all,
Sarah Ball is named Editor in Chief of The Wall Street Journal Magazine, retaining oversight of Style News.
Sarah joined WSJ. Magazine as its digital director in 2018 after a distinguished career in magazines that included stints as executive digital editor and editorial director at GQ, deputy digital editor at Vanity Fair, and culture reporter and editor at Newsweek.
Sarah has become one of the Journal’s most ambitious and collaborative digital strategists, more than doubling WSJ. Magazine’s digital audience through aggressive acceleration on and off our platforms.
Last year she led the launch of our successful Style News desk, a team of 15 reporters and editors that continues to expand our digital reach with lively and newsy coverage of fashion, lifestyle, entertainment and culture.
WSJ. Magazine has played a powerful role in expanding the Wall Street Journal’s audience and authority. Sarah is distinctly poised to build on Kristina O’Neill’s 10 years of transformation and innovation to take the magazine to new heights. She has a deep understanding of the Journal’s target audience, an extensive knowledge of advertising and industry trends and an innate ability to deliver compelling and thought-provoking journalism.
