Business North Carolina magazine has hired Quinnipiac University School of Communications dean, and Talking Biz News founder, Chris Roush to be its executive editor for digital.
Editor in chief David Mildenberg writes, “Chris will help make Business North Carolina and related online products more effective online, which will be the latest in his long line of accomplishments. I met Chris when he was breaking important business stories for BusinessWeek magazine and, later, Atlanta’s newspaper. As an admirer for many years, I’ve wondered if Chris ever sleeps, given his intense work ethic and prodigious journalistic output.
“In North Carolina, he’s probably best known for his 17 years as a professor at UNC Chapel Hill, where he developed perhaps the nation’s most notable business journalism program. He helped many students land jobs at big and small newsrooms, including some who have won the industry’s top honors. That’s no small feat given the state of journalism in 2023.
“In 2019, he moved to Quinnipiac University in Connecticut, where he has served as dean of the communications school. In announcing his departure, Provost Debra Liebowitz credited Chris with helping the school achieve ‘several impressive milestones, including successfully leading the faculty and staff through a five-year strategic plan to ensure state-of-the-industry curriculum, facilities and student services. He also oversaw the school’s first diversity initiative.'”
