The Associated Press has tapped Kantele Franko to serve as an assistant news director. In her new role, she will lead news coverage across Ohio, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. She will also oversee a team of about 20 reporters, photographers and videojournalists.
During more than 14 years with the Associated Press, Franko has also reported on national education issues and trends. She has also covered a broad variety of Ohio news beats including crime, courts, weather — and exotic animals.
Franko interned at the San Francisco Chronicle and has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Ohio University.
