Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We lead the way in breaking news and providing analysis on financial markets, from intraday coverage through to in-depth features. We are known for our quality, accuracy and ability to deliver news investors can use. It’s what keeps us inventing and re-inventing, all the time.

The Technology News team is looking for a Team Leader to guide the technology coverage in South and Southeast Asia. You will drive coverage across the region, working with reporters, editors and managers to make Bloomberg News the preeminent source for readers on the terminal and beyond. You will mentor reporters and help elevate their skills so we can contend with top tier media in the region’s many diverse markets. You will also have the communication skills to work smoothly with journalists on other teams, including deals, economics and politics and help set the tone and tempo for how Bloomberg prioritizes news.

As the point person for the region, you will have oversight of a diverse range of countries and companies, making flexibility, knowledge and experience paramount. While India, Indonesia and Singapore are critical to our coverage, you will also delve at times into more peripheral terrain, from Vietnam to Malaysia. The companies and characters involved will be equally diverse. We cover Chinese billionaires who have made their fortunes in Singapore, Indian entrepreneurs accused of accounting fraud and Australian hackers in trouble with law enforcement. The role will give you a front-row seat to many of the biggest development of our age, from the US-China conflict to the rise of a new generation of entrepreneurs.

You should also be proficient with the technology story worldwide. You will be called on to help with global coverage regularly, including giant companies like Apple and Google as well as trending topics such as ChatGPT or memory chip demand. You must be comfortable working on stories beyond your own region and foster a successful working relationship with platforms including TV, Quicktake, Research and others to deliver the most powerful stories possible.

We’ll trust you to:

  •  Lead a team of reporters with skill and inspiration
  •  Help the team break the most important stories in tech and craft ambitious enterprise on the beat
  •  Collaborate with colleagues across teams, bureaus and platforms to break news and deliver a global perspective to our audience
  •  Be innovative and think creatively about ways to make our content accessible to a diverse audience of business-savvy readers

You will need to have:

  •  At least 5 years of experience as a journalist
  •  At least 5 years of experience in a real time news environment
  •  Experience covering Asia Technology as a reporter or editor
  •  Proven experience leading, coaching and/or developing high-performing teams in a newsroom
  •  Experience also working in other locations either in the US or Europe
  •  Strong editing and headline writing skills
  •  An interest in learning new subjects quickly
  •  Proficiency in both written and spoken English
  •  Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organisation
