Our Energy and Commodities team is looking for an experienced Managing Editor to coordinate our coverage across Asia, a region that increasingly drives the global market for raw materials. The successful candidate will run a large group of reporters and editors working on one of the central stories of the moment: the global natural resources industry is being turned upside down by the war in Ukraine, the transition away from fossil fuels and rising tensions between the US and China.
You’ll be equally comfortable with breaking news and longer-form analysis, at home with markets and corporate coverage, and also understand the needs of readers on and off the terminal. The ability to collaborate across the newsroom is a must. You will also play a key role in the Asia success of Bloomberg Green, one of the leading voices on the energy transition and climate change.
We’ll trust you to:
- Drive and coordinate the coverage of Energy and Commodities across Asia, aligning news coverage with the goals of the wider business
- Work seamlessly with your team leaders to organize, plan and coordinate coverage priorities and editing resources
- Spot gaps and deliver innovative ways to improve our content and publish insightful stories
- Promote diversity of thought and representation throughout our coverage
- Build influential relationships across the newsroom to ensure our coverage captures the context of local developments and resonates globally and across all platforms
- Coach and nurture reporters and editors that can both break news and craft compelling enterprise stories
- Be an advocate for your team inside and outside Bloomberg
- You’ll need to have:
- At least 8 years of experience as a financial reporter or editor
- At least 8 years of experience in a real-time news environment
- At least 2 years of experience directly managing journalists in a newsroom
- An aptitude for creative story presentation and an understanding of audience development and engagement
- Strong editing and writing skills with a particular focus on accuracy, precision and speed
- Proficiency in both written and spoken English
- Demonstrated continuous career growth within an organization
