New York-based Vested LLC has named Lou Carlozo the editor and publisher of Talking Biz News.

“Working with Lou at Qwoted has given me the opportunity to witness his passion for the media business firsthand,” said Dan Simon, Vested CEO. “We are excited to bring him onto TBN and have his help growing the premier source of news and information about the media industry.”

In his new role, Carlozo will guide an editorial makeover of the site that includes expansion of offerings related to money and finance. Popular features including media moves will remain part of the mix, Carlozo said.

TBN founder Chris Roush remains on board, continuing his contributions to keeping the site up to date with the latest in business journalism happenings and providing editorial guidance.

“Lou has done a great job of updating Talking Biz News in the past few months, and I’m confident he will take it to even greater heights,” said Roush, dean of the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University. “He understands completely what its readers want.”

First up among the additions to Talking Biz News will be content from Qwoted, including the “Lou’s Views” column and Qwoted 100 profiles of standout PR professionals. Veteran Journalist Dawn Wotapka (Wall Street Journal) will also join the team as a Q&A columnist, interviewing movers and shakers in the media and business PR world. Plans also call for embedded podcasts, industry awards and more.

Carlozo said he was “thrilled beyond thrilled” to assume the editor and publisher role. Working behind the scenes since the spring, he has helped grow TBN’s subscriber base by 15 percent and ushered in the site’s first redesign in more than a decade.

“Like a lot of scribes, I first heard of Talking Biz News when they covered one of my media moves,” Carlozo said. “That was in 2019 and ever since, I’ve been a fan. Taking the helm ranks as one of my career highlights, especially given the TBN’s dedication to media service.”

The creator-host of the “Bankadelic” financial services podcast, an inaugural contributor to the Wall Street Journal’s “Buy Side” and the current editor in chief at Qwoted, Carlozo has a B.A. in English from Rutgers College and a masters in written communication from National Louis University. He was a Pulitzer Prize finalist and Polk Award winner for his contributions to the Chicago Tribune’s “Killing Our Children” series.
