Chrissie Thompson will be joining The Associated Press as director of the Education Reporting Network.
An excerpt from the memo sent to staff reads:
“In this role, she will serve as the head of a new program designed to drive accountability reporting on the lasting impacts of the pandemic on education, and lift local newsrooms’ abilities to reach their audiences with engaging education news, too.”
Thompson will begin her new role on April 25 and will be based in Spokane.
Thompson has recently been working at USA Today as an education reporter. Before that, she was at The Cincinnati Enquirer, where she has served as a state Capital reporter and Columbus bureau chief.
She was also an automotive business writer at the Detroit Free Press and has previously reported for Automotive News.
Thompson has a B.A. from Taylor University and a M.A. from the University of Michigan.
