Lee Enterprises has been laying off top editors and other employees across its local papers. The move comes after an unsolicited takeover bid from hedge fund Alden Global Capital.
As per reports, The Richmond Times-Dispatch laid off three staff members, The Bristol Herald Courier laid off its city editor, The Omaha World-Herald let go of at least two editors, and The Greensboro News and Record, and the Winston-Salem Journal’s executive editor was laid off as per two sources familiar with the situation.
