New York Times media reporter Marc Tracy is moving to the culture desk, according to a Thursday announcement.
He will cover a new, cross-disciplinary beat examining how creators, artists and thought leaders are negotiating rapidly evolving norms.
Tracy has been on the business news desk since the summer of 2019 covering he media beat, a coverage zone that has been particularly busy the past few years as a new generation of leaders has ascended in the industry.
“Marc’s coverage of the troubles facing local media kept readers abreast of this most important issue,” said Ellen Pollock, the business editor. “But we in Biz will always remember how he handled the coverage of the most delicate of beats — The New York Times Company — with grace, good humor and aplomb. He’s a great colleague and we will miss him.”
Prior to that assignment, Tracy covered college sports for The Times for five years, joining us from The New Republic. He will join culture in early February.
