TALKING BIZ NEWS EXCLUSIVE

Wall Street Journal managing editor Robert Thomson sent out the following e-mail to the staff on Monday:

“We’re delighted to announce that Jennifer Forsyth will become the new Dallas bureau chief. We have identified Texas as an important region for the expansion of the Journal and she will be much involved in that project. She will steer coverage of crucial sectors, including gas and energy, Walmart and other retailers, and the thriving U.S. pie industry. She will oversee expanded coverage of general news and develop an ever closer relationship with our comrades at Newswires.

“She has been bureau chief of the New York-based Law Group since July 2008, after having joined the paper as a real estate reporter in 2005. Before joining the Journal, she was a senior writer for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Jenn has a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of North Carolina at Asheville and a Journalism Master’s from Columbia. Jenn will arrive in Dallas before the end of the year.

“Please join us in congratulating Jenn, who will report to Matt Murray, and is all cattle and no hat.”
