The New York Times has promoted Alexa Mills to the post of senior editor. Previously, she was a writing coach for The New York Times Fellowship.
In her new role, Mills will help oversee the new Editing Residency, as well as continue to work on other career-related projects with the team. She has also served as managing editor and editor-in-chief of Washington City Paper.
She has also freelanced for the Boston Globe, The Washington Post, Yes! Magazine and more. She was also director of media projects at the Department of Urban Studies and Planning, Community Innovators Lab, at M.I.T.
Mills graduated from Cornell University.
