The following announcement was sent out by The Washington Post director of news product Greg Barber and newsroom product deputy editor Charity Brown:
We’re excited to announce that Emily Clough is joining the News Product team as senior product editor for taxonomy and metadata. She is the first newsroom hire for WaPo 360, the cross-company collaboration that will build a new structure for organizing Post content.
Emily joins us from SiriusXM, where she created and managed metadata systems to help listeners find the shows and songs they want to hear. She also launched software to catalogue the thousands of images used on the satellite broadcaster’s platforms. Emily produced documents and training sessions to help colleagues at all levels of technical skill understand how to work within these new systems. She’ll soon be doing the same for us.
A native of Mount Solon, Va., Emily holds diplomas from two local universities: a bachelor’s degree from George Mason University and a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Catholic University.
Please join us in welcoming Emily to The Post. She starts Sept. 7.
