The Washington Post has named Alisa Tang a breaking news reporter, Metro.
In her new role, Tang will oversee a staff of reporters who focus on breaking news and general assignment stories. She will also curate Metro’s two main newsletters and coordinate with Metro editors and the Hub on sending alerts.
She will also edit The Post’s live update files during major news events.
She starts July 18.
Tang joins Metro from the Hub, where she is weekend homepage editor.
Prior to The Post, Tang had a 15-year run as a correspondent and editor in Asia for The Associated Press and Reuters. She has also freelanced and has reported for the Belleville News-Democrat.
She was also a news assistant at The New York Times.
Tang is a graduate of Columbia University, New York.
