The Washington Post has tapped Lucy Naland as designer for its newly formed Instagram team.
In this role, Naland will optimize and reimagine The Post’s journalism for Instagram, working to build a daily habit for audiences on the company’s fastest-growing social platform.
She will also work to elevate The Post’s brand across core accounts by sharpening the visual identity and building cohesion.
Naland joined The Post in 2019 as a designer for the award-winning Select app. Prior to that, she was a design intern at Sports Illustrated. She has also served as a design editor, senior design editor, presentation director and special projects designer at The Daily Orange.
She was a designer for Baked Magazine and a design intern at The Boston Globe.
Her Emerging News Products designs have earned recognition from the Society for News Design, including a 2020 Award of Excellence for her portfolio of work.
Naland holds a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Syracuse University.
