Alexandria Symonds is officially joining The New York Times graphics desk as an assistant editor. Recently she has had a key role in editing coverage of the virus, working closely with graphics editors.
Symonds has been at The Times since 2014, working on T magazine, the Print Hub and International, and collaborating with Magazine Labs and Product on a how-to app for kids. Prior to joining The Times, she was a digital editor at Interview Magazine.
Her work has also appeared in The Wall Street Journal, New York Magazine, Interview, The New York Observer, Vanity Fair, Paper Magazine and more. She has also worked as a fact-checker at Avenue Magazine.
Symonds holds a double Bachelor’s degree in English and American studies from Columbia University and received her Master’s degree in data, economics and development policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
