G. Scott Thomas, the projects editor at Buffalo Business First, has retired.
Thomas is best known for the publication’s ranking of school districts, which has been a best seller. He also oversaw projects for the parent company, American City Business Journals, that ran across its publications. He had been at the paper since 1990.
“It was my privilege to work with Scott for 30 years,” said Business First editor in chief Donna Collins in an email. “He is missed!”
Thomas has been a journalist for 40 years, specializing in coverage of politics, demographics, sports, business, and education. Six of his 12 books have focused on presidential politics: “The Pursuit of the White House” (1987), “The United States of Suburbia” (1998), “Advice from the Presidents” (2008), “A New World to Be Won” (2011), “Counting the Votes” (2015) and “Presidential Election Record Book 2020” (2019).
Thomas also edited a website devoted to the history of presidential elections at CountingTheVotes.com. He holds a B.A. in American history from Washington and Lee University.
