Politico is seeking an experienced editor to lead its health care team, a group of nearly 20 hard-charging journalists covering some of the nation’s most consequential and contentious issues in policy and politics. The team tackles topics that touch the lives of every American, including the government response to the coronavirus pandemic, health coverage (through insurers, Medicare and Medicaid), the evolution of the Affordable Care Act, health disparities, the opioid epidemic, abortion and a wide range of battles across the U.S. over expanding access to care and restraining costs.
This is a demanding, high-profile role leading one of the largest teams of health care journalists in the nation. It requires a sharp, experienced manager with a track record of delivering high-impact enterprise and accountability stories for a broad audience. The editor will be responsible for Politico’s health care coverage for professional subscribers and other influential readers in Washington and across the nation.

- A proven leader with experience managing large teams of reporters and editors
- A big thinker who can conceptualize and execute high-impact stories that grab audiences and hold power to account
- Experience working collaboratively and creatively with a motivated team of high-metabolism journalists
- Expertise in health care or related fields preferred; a track record covering government and business/economics required
