John Schoen, data editor at CNBC Digital, sent out the following to friends and colleagues:
After more than four decades of never-ending deadlines, it’s time to pursue some long-deferred projects and interests outside of the daily news cycle. So I’ll be leaving CNBC at the start of the New Year.
Since I filed my first story as a beat reporter for a local CT newspaper, I’ve had the privilege of working in 10 different newsrooms. So I’ve worked with a lot of journalists over the years. None were more talented, devoted, tenacious, thoughtful – and just plain fun to work with – than those at CNBC. I will miss them very much.
I’m also looking forward to pursuing some long-deferred projects, finding new opportunities and great people to work with, and reconnecting with old friends and colleagues – even if remotely. So shoot me a message and let’s catch up.
