WSJ reporter Meckler leaving for Washington Post

Wall Street Journal reporter Laura Meckler has resigned to accept a position with the Washington Post.

Meckler, who covered immigration and demographics for The Journal, will become the Post’s national education writer.

She starts at the end of the month.

“I am beyond grateful for the opportunities I had, the boatloads I learned and talented people I worked with at the Journal,” wrote Meckler on Twitter.

Meckler has been with The Journal for 13 years. Before her current beat, she covered politics and policy issues, including the White House, three presidential campaigns and health care.

Before The Journal, Meckler spent nine years at the Associated Press, covering health policy, welfare reform, children and families, Social Security and presidential politics.

She is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis.
