Wall Street Journal investigations editor Mike Siconolfi sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:
All,
We’re thrilled to announce that Chris Stewart will be rejoining the Investigative team as a Deputy Editor, working with Deputy Editor Jenn Forsyth and me, starting September 4.
For the past year, Chris has been the Journal’s Financial Enterprise Editor, where he’s been overseeing a team of terrific reporters digging into money flows on Wall Street and beyond, including current projects looking at crytpocurrencies and private markets.
Chris started at the Journal as Deputy Chief in the Media group in 2011. In his previous stint as a senior reporter in the Investigations group, he wrote on topics ranging from Donald Trump to terror financing. In 2015, Chris was part of a team that won a Pulitzer Prize for Investigative Reporting for our “Medicare Unmasked” series on Medicare fraud.
Earlier, Chris served as deputy editor at the New York Observer and is a former contributing editor at the now-defunct Conde Nast Portfolio. He also is the author of three books, including most recently Drone Warrior: An Elite Solider’s Inside Account of the Hunt for America’s Most Dangerous Enemies, which Michael Bay is turning into a movie. He lives in Katonah, N.Y., with his wife Amy and two kids, Skylar and Dashiell.
We’re excited to have Chris back in this important role as our partner overseeing the I-team, as Jenn works remotely from her hometown of Asheville, N.C. As always, we’ll be looking to work with other editors and reporters around the newsroom. Please join us in wishing Chris well and working with him in this new expanded role.
Best,
