Lauren Almeida | | Lauren is joining the London markets desk this summer. Lauren is finishing her degree at the London School of Economics in June, where she studied history. She has previously written for Investors Chronicle, Legal Business and Compass News and is looking to pursue a career in financial journalism. She’s interested in tech IPOs, startups and learning more about podcast production. Outside the office, you can find her trying to learn a new type of dance (flamenco at the minute) or cheering on Agüero at the Etihad. |

Peter Andringa | | Peter will be working with the graphics team in New York. Peter is a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill studying journalism and computer science. As a Robertson Scholar, he also lives and takes classes down the road at Duke University, although you’ll never catch him wearing that shade of blue. He has previously interned in both software engineering and editorial roles, most recently on visuals teams at NBC and The Guardian. Originally from the suburbs of Washington, D.C., he grew up with an appreciation for bad puns, good design and great college basketball. (Go Heels!) |

Brittany Bernstein | | Brittany, the recipient of this year’s Marie Colvin fellowship, is working with the world desk in London. Brittany is a recent graduate of Stony Brook University, where she studied journalism and creative writing. She is a Long Island native and has previously interned at Newsday and Long Island Business News, as well as the USA Today Network in Florida and the Rio Grande Sun in New Mexico. As an intern she has interviewed the inventor of the waterbed, covered a world record attempt and worked as part of a team covering the death of a police officer in the line of duty. Her interests include healthcare, wacky headlines and cute goat videos. |

Likhitha Butchireddygari | | Likhitha will be in Washington, D.C., this summer, working with the economics team. A Baltimore native, Likhitha will graduate from Duke University with a degree in a major she designed entitled “Digital Democracy and Data.” At Duke, she was the editor in chief of the student newspaper, The Chronicle. Likhitha has also previously worked in the Investigative Unit of NBC News and as a fact-checker for Peacock Productions. When she’s not pursuing data-driven stories, Likhitha can be found obsessing over fonts, cheering on Duke basketball or figuring out what new restaurants to try. |

Amanda Christovich | | Amanda will be on the sports desk. She is a Los Angeles native and recent graduate of Georgetown University, where she majored in English and minored in history and French. She is interested in covering sports, politics and their intersections. Previously, she has interned with USA Today Sports, Fox Sports West and the Georgetown University Athletic Department. When not covering or watching sports, you can find her chugging iced coffee and complaining about winter. |

Acacia Coronado | | Acacia will be working with U.S. news this summer in New York. She is from the small town of Manor, Texas, just outside of Austin and barely visible on a map. She is a senior at the University of Texas at Austin, where she studies journalism with a certificate in human rights and social justice. Throughout the past four years she has written about a range of topics, including oysters, SXSW, goat yoga, country music, Texas politics, immigration and victims of cartel violence. When her notebook is closed, she enjoys volunteering at church, spending time with family and swing/salsa dancing with her friends. She only sometimes says “y’all.” |

Alexa Corse | | Alexa will be in London as the Daniel Pearl Memorial Journalism intern, starting in July. Alexa will graduate Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in June with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Her work has appeared in the Stanford Daily, the Daily Beast and The Wall Street Journal. Alexa interned in the Journal’s D.C. bureau in the summers of 2017 and 2018, and will join that bureau full-time in the fall after her stint in London. A Baltimore native, she has also worked as a fact-checker on the book “Political Risk” by former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Stanford Professor Amy Zegart. Alexa was a competing member of the Stanford equestrian team and, while she hopes to continue horseback riding, she also enjoys playing squash. |

Julia Donheiser | | Julia will be joining the finance team this summer in New York. Julia is a recent graduate from Duke University, where they studied data journalism through a self-designed major. They are also a proud alumni of New York City public schools. Outside of investigative and data-driven reporting, you can find them cooking up elaborate dinners or throwing/attending/schvitzing about inclusive dance parties. They have previously interned with Knight Foundation, Chalkbeat and the Center for Public Integrity. |

Michelangelo Fano | | Michelangelo will be working with the video team in London. Originally from Rome, he is now a graduate student in journalism and international economic policy at Sciences Po, Paris. Michelangelo lived a bit all over Europe. He spent his childhood in the countryside in central Italy, but then moved to Vienna where he went to school and stayed for nine years—it’s also the place where he learned German with the typical and unmistakable Viennese accent. He then stayed briefly in London where he began his undergraduate studies before moving to Berlin to study political science and do a thesis on ancient Greek philosophy. He discovered his passion for journalism when he started to collaborate at a very young age with the Italian International Affairs online paper The Post Internazionale. More recently, Michelangelo interned at AFP in the video department in Rome. He absolutely wants to combine his passion for written journalism with photography and video journalism. Also: nature, piano, and sports—especially football, of course—make him particularly happy. |

Alexis Gravely | | Alexis will be interning on the legal desk in New York. She recently completed her bachelor’s degree in media studies and will soon finish her master’s degree in elementary education at the University of Virginia. She’s from a small town in southwest Virginia — and has the accent to prove it! She has previously interned at the Center for Public Integrity and has work published in the Huffington Post, the Nation and several Charlottesville publications. Alexis was a part of UVA’s independent student newspaper, The Cavalier Daily, for 3.5 years, ultimately serving as the paper’s assistant managing editor. She loves all sports that aren’t golf and soccer, excessively using em dashes, and making an entire room smell like popcorn, which is her favorite afternoon snack. |

Lee Harris | | Lee will be in the Paris bureau this summer. She is a rising senior at the University of Chicago, where she studies history and economics and serves as the editor in chief of the independent student newspaper, the Chicago Maroon. Last summer, she worked at the Washington, D.C., bureau of ABC News. A New Yorker, Lee is writing her senior thesis on finance and austerity in the 1980s. She’s trying to learn to cook delicate things like puff pastry and soufflés, but they keep collapsing. |

Daja Henry | | Daja, a Dow Jones News Fund editing intern, will be working on the publishing desk in New York. She is a recent Howard University graduate from New Orleans. As a multiplatform journalist, she prides herself in creating cross-cultural connections and empowering through information. She previously interned at the Atlanta Voice, the New Journal and Guide, the Congressional Black Caucus, the New Orleans Tribune and Where Y’At Magazine. Most recently, she produced a 15-minute documentary on the history of the black press in Virginia. Her journalistic experiences have led her to collect stories of African immigrants, stock car driver Bubba Wallace, a former member of the Black Panther Party, a Babalawo and many more. She is fluent in Spanish, having studied in Mexico, Cuba and Spain, and is working on developing a proficiency in French. |

Lindsay Huth | | Lindsay will be working with the graphics group. She recently completed her masters in journalism at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she spent most of her time analyzing data, building graphics and breaking her code. She previously interned at USA Today, U.S. News & World Report, Kansas City PBS and the (Lake Charles) American Press, and she is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, where she studied visual communication design and psychology. On weekends, she’s usually exploring local coffee shops and bookstores. |

Dan Lyon | | Dan will join the photo team this summer. He was born and raised in Syracuse, N.Y., and is currently a junior at Syracuse University, where he studies photojournalism and global security studies. He has previously interned at the Cortland Standard as a multimedia intern, working mostly on photo and video stories for the publication. Currently, Dan works as an assistant photo editor for Syracuse’s student newspaper, the Daily Orange. If he’s not working or on campus (which is rare), he can be found playing in a post-punk band called Siren’s Image or spending time with friends. |

Eva Maldonado | | Eva will be part of the video squad this summer. She just graduated from Northeastern University in Boston, where she studied journalism and media production. She previously worked as a videographer at the Boston Globe for a year and a half, where she created breaking news videos for social media, short-form documentaries and everything in between. She also served as president of her beloved Northeastern video production club NUTV. Eva is especially interested in documentaries and serial content, and how these mediums can amplify marginalized voices and instigate change. She loves a good soft focus, iced coffee with an everything bagel, every cat, Kevin MacLeod, female villains, magic realism, and magic (not realism). |

Charlie McGee | | Charlie will be working on the corporate news team. He is a rising senior at UNC-Chapel Hill where he studies business journalism and philosophy, politics and economics. His work has been published by Vice News, the News & Observer, American City Business Journals and more, and he is a senior writer with the Daily Tar Heel, UNC’s student newspaper, during the academic year. A native of Huntersville, N.C., he enjoys lively conversations of all kinds—pointless or substantial —and taking firm argumentative stances on professional basketball. |

Ethan Millman | | Ethan will be reporting with the entertainment group in Los Angeles. He is a Los Angeles native and a recent grad from Arizona State’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. Most recently, he served as executive editor at the State Press, ASU’s student paper. He’s previously held business reporting internships at the Los Angeles Times and Denver Post. Outside of work, he’s usually playing guitar, listening to Led Zeppelin or re-watching episodes of “The Office.” |

Jesse Naranjo | | Jesse will be reporting with the politics team in Washington, D.C. Jesse is a recent graduate of IU-Bloomington, where he worked on the student newspaper, the Indiana Daily Student. He is a native of Brooklyn, N.Y. He previously worked as a reporting intern at the (Charleston) Post and Courier. As someone interested in presidential campaigns and governance, he’s excited to spend the summer in the Washington, D.C., bureau. He’s a fan of Queens baseball and Brooklyn pizza. |

Suman Naishadham | | Suman will be reporting with the Latin America group in Mexico City. Suman recently graduated from the Missouri School of Journalism, where she studied investigative reporting. She previously interned for Reuters in Mexico, where she reported on the historic presidential election of 2018. Before graduate school, she reported from India for over a year. She has written for Vice, GQ Magazine, Roads & Kingdoms, and others on topics spanning the Rohingya refugee crisis, demonetization, skilled immigration to the U.S. and more. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from New York University. |

Merdie Nzanga | | Merdie will be interning with the personal finance team this summer after completing business reporting training with the Dow Jones News Fund. Merdie is a recent graduate of Howard University. She has previously interned at USA Today, ABC News and NBC’s Today Show. She was a 2017 White House Correspondent Scholar and Inaugural Lee Thornton Scholar, and last December she went to Kenya as a Pulitzer Center Student Fellow, where she wrote about the country’s 2011 federal anti- Female Genital Mutilation Law. She is thrilled to be at the Journal this summer. Outside of the newsroom, she enjoys spending time with her friends. |

Britt O’Daly | | Britt will be reporting with the investing group this summer. Britt is a rising senior at Yale University, where he is studying mathematics and art history. Last summer, he worked in San Francisco as a reporter for the Information, where he wrote about cryptocurrency and student entrepreneurship. While the West Coast was nice, he was (falsely) accused of burning down his San Francisco landlord’s kumquat tree and gradually felt overwhelmed by all of the bandwagon Golden State Warriors fans in the Bay Area. Now, Britt is happy to be working in New York, right at home near his native New Jersey. Nobody in the tri-state area has accused Britt of burning down a kumquat tree yet, which he takes to be a good omen. |

Camryn Okere | | Camryn will be interning with the product design group in New York. Camryn is an aspiring problem solver studying leadership, strategic management, design and international business at Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis. Camryn strives to explore how design captures and moves ideas and business models forward in both domestic and international settings. She uses this platform to make the potential greatness of organizations, people, products, events and experiences a feasible reality. She has previously interned for SoundCloud and Valentino. |

Giulia Petroni | | Giulia will be interning in London this summer with the energy team. Originally from Rome, Giulia recently earned her master’s degree from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. Giulia has previously worked at Il Gruppo 24 Ore, ABC-affiliated WJLA-TV, Perfil and Voice of America. Her work has been featured in USA Today, MarketWatch, U.S. World & News Report, UPI and the Buenos Aires Times. Giulia is interested in geopolitics, energy and international affairs. Outside the office, you may find her reading Italian literature or cooking pasta. |

Tess Riski | | Tess will be reporting with the real estate team this summer. Tess is completing her master’s degree at the Columbia Journalism School, where she is a Toni Stabile fellow in investigative journalism. A Seattle native, Tess moved to New York after graduating from Seattle University last June. In undergrad, she interned for three newspapers where she covered local politics, crime, courts and breaking news. Having once dreamed of becoming a police detective, Tess is a fan of all things investigative. If you see her, ask her about the summer she lived alone in a cabin in the woods in rural Minnesota. |

Mythili Sankara | | Mythili will be joining the media science lab this summer in New York. Mythili, from India, is pursuing her dual degree in journalism and computer science at Columbia Graduate School of Journalism. She had previously worked as a content editor and reporter with financial newswires before getting her hands dirty with code at Columbia. She is interested in tech, finance and politics and is a huge Michael Lewis fan. Outside of school, she loves to read movie scripts and memorize lengthy monologues. |

Dave Sebastian | | Dave, a Dow Jones News Fund business reporting intern, will be working on the spot news desk. He is a senior at Boston University, where he studies journalism, economics and business. He’s interested in reporting on how economic and labor policies affect businesses and innovation. Among the places he has interned are Innovation Leader, Bloomberg Law, WBUR and Voice of America. Born in Jakarta, Indonesia, he bonds best over food. On weekends, you can find him munching at his favorite dim sum restaurant and running by the river. |

Fleming Smith | | Fleming will be working with the life & arts desk in New York. She is a Georgia native recently graduated from Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee, where she studied international politics. She previously interned at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Athens Banner-Herald and the Georgia Review, covering breaking news, features, politics and entertainment. In her free time, catch her managing an addiction to Chick-fil-A and indulging her love of books and old movies. |

Alexa St. John | | Alexa will be interning with Greater New York this summer. Alexa is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan, where she studied communication studies and the program in the environment. She served as 2018 editor in chief of the Michigan Daily, the 128-year-old, student-run newspaper, where she was responsible for managing 13 different sections with over 200 student journalists. She oversaw new multimedia projects, led equity and inclusion efforts, and worked to improve the publication’s business operations. Prior to serving as EIC, she was 2017 managing news editor. In addition to The Daily, Alexa started an area-wide, student chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists, Ann Arbor. Alexa interned at Local 4/WDIV the summer before her junior year and Automotive News the summer prior to her senior year in Detroit. In the future, she’s interested in reporting on the automotive, health or tech industries, and in her free time, she loves trying tacos at every new restaurant she can! |

Abigail Summerville | | Abigail will be interning with the tech bureau in San Francisco. Abigail is a recent graduate of Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Va., where she majored in business journalism. She has previously interned for the Boston Business Journal and CNBC. She is a native of Arlington, Va., but is excited to explore the West Coast this summer. She’s interested in writing about cyber security, Amazon, personal tech and transportation innovations. Some fun facts about Abigail: She’s hiked the last 200 miles of the Appalachian Trail in Maine, she played lacrosse in college and her team made it to the Division III Final Four during her sophomore year, and she’s visited the Newseum more times than she can count. |

Michael Tobin | | Michael, this year’s recipient of the F. James Pensiero reporting internship, will be working on the spot news desk. Michael grew up outside of Portland, Oregon, and will be a senior at the University of Oregon in fall 2019. He is double majoring in journalism and political science and minoring in legal studies. He’s interested in the legal and court systems, access to public records, investigative journalism and the role of money in politics. When he’s not working, you can find him reading books about the Supreme Court and the U.S. territories, climbing or trying to cook food without burning it. |

Sorayah Zahir | | Sorayah, a Dow Jones News Fund digital media intern, will be on the platform desk this summer. She is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington, where she studied communications. She has six years of journalism experience, most of it spent at the student publication, The Shorthorn. She learned things like graphic design, reporting, copyediting and multimedia journalism there and loved every second of it. Her work has been recognized by the SPJ, Texas IPA and the National Scholastic Press Association among others. Most recently she was a Dow Jones News Fund multiplatform editing intern at the Beaumont Enterprise. She is a California-born, Texas-raised Pisces who enjoys bad movies, good journalism and great food. |
