WSJ hires Prang to cover breaking news

Allison Prang, a community banking reporter at American Banker, has been hired by The Wall Street Journal to cover breaking news.

She starts Oct. 5.

“American Banker has been so good to me, and I’m thankful for all of the people who have helped me become a better journalist here,” said Prang in an email to Talking Biz News.

For the past 15 months, Prang has been at American Banker. Before that, she was at the Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier, covering tech and tourism.

She graduated from the University of Missouri with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and minored in political science and sociology. During her college career, she interned at The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg News, The Kansas City Star, The Indianapolis Star, The Mash by the Chicago Tribune and the St. Louis Beacon.

In 2012, she won an honorable mention in the Best in Business contest put on by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
