Erin Ailworth, an energy reporter for The Wall Street Journal, is becoming a Midwest correspondent for the paper.

She will also cover natural disasters and will be based in Chicago.

Ailworth has been with The Journal since August 2014 in Houston covering renewable energy, and she previously covered independent U.S. oil and gas producers focused on drilling in the nation’s shale regions.

She joined The Journal from the Boston Globe, where she worked for nearly seven years writing about energy, clean technology, and utilities as a member of the Globe’s business desk. Prior to that, she worked in the paper’s North Shore bureau covering the cities of Salem, Haverhill, and Malden.

Ailworth also worked at the Orlando Sentinel. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University.
