Women in business site Jane Dough launches

Abrams Media has launched a site called Jane Dough for women in business, and Amy Tennery writes on the site about what it hopes to achieve.

Tennery writes, “It’s a beat with far too few subjects, all of whom we find fascinating. Don’t expect to see beauty tips here, or dating advice — and no pink. Well, maybe sometimes pink. Pink’s okay.

“But primarily you will see us focusing on the often under-reported successes of female business leaders, and occasionally highlighting the subtle and, at other times overt, sexism in the business world — and the media that covers it.

But the stories that we were most excited to write (and which generated the greatest response from readers), were the ones most personal to us, as women.

“How will Virginia Rometty, the first female CEO of IBM, change the face of the industry? Has her being a “she” already increased the value of the company? Which women are fighting to bring more of us into the boardroom and do the methods currently in place make sense? And, for that matter, can new quota systems actually help women in the corporate world?”
