Andrea Valdez, the editor of Wired.com, has been hired as editor in chief of the Texas Observer.
She has been at Wired.com since March 2017.
Valdez joined Wired from Texas Monthly. During her tenure as editor of texasmonthly.com, she oversaw a site traffic increase of 250 percent and a 500 percent increase in social media audience, as well as the launch of two verticals and a redesign of the website in 2013.
She is the author of “How to Be a Texan: The Manual.” Valdez received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University.
