Williamsport paper names biz editor its new city editor
Michael Maneval, the business editor of the Williamsport Sun-Gazette in Pennsylvania, has been named the paper’s city editor.
A story on its website states, “‘Mike’s experience with the newsroom staff and understanding of our community will go a long way toward maintaining a solid foundation of local news coverage,’ Oravec said. ‘I am confident that he’ll be a steady presence and leader in the newsroom.’
“In this position, Maneval will be responsible for planning coverage of local news events, deploying staff and developing the daily news digest, which essentially is a plan that the night editors follow to put out each day’s edition. He also will be responsible for developing content for the front page of the Sunday edition as well as the Sunday Region section.
“Before joining the Sun-Gazette staff in 2006, Maneval was an editor and reporter at The Ridgway Record newspaper in Elk County and also wrote for the St. Mary’s Daily Press and Kane Republican. He has more than 15 years of experience in local community journalism.”
