Bill Wilson

Bill Roy, the editor of the Wichita Business Journal, writes about Bill Wilson, the managing editor of the paper who died Wednesday from cancer.

Roy writes, “Bill was a three-time winner of the Kansas Press Association’s Huck Boyd Award for Community Service. He won awards from the Society of Business Editors and Writers, Kansas City Press Club, and was part of a team nominated for a Pulitzer Prize for local reporting. He continued winning awards during his time at the WBJ.

“I have been responding to emails, text messages and phone calls from many people who are expressing their condolences. Thank you. Bill was well-liked and his life’s work had an impact on the communities he served and the organizations at which he worked.

“We will miss him, but he’ll never be far from our thoughts.

“We’ll hear his voice often, especially during the crisp, clear days of college football and when the cleats hit the grass as the weather gets warm.

“Thanks for everything, Bill.”
