Karen Goff, who covers economic development for the Washington Business Journal, is leaving the paper to become public information officer for Fairfax County in Virginia.
Her last day on the job is Oct. 12. She starts her new job on Oct. 23.
Goff called her experience at the paper “amazing” but said it involved a one-hour commute.
She had been at the paper for a year. Before that, she was editor of Reston Now for three years and editor of Reston Patch for three-and-half years.
She also worked as a reporter for the Washington Times for 18 years and at the Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Sun-Sentinel for two years.
