Karen Goldberg Goff has been hired as the new economic development reporter at the Washington Business Journal.

She is replacing Michael Neibauer, who is now associate editor overseeing our real estate team. She’ll start Nov. 1.

“We’re really excited to have her on board — she’s got great knowledge of the entire Washington region and the way things work around here,” said Doug Fruehling, editor of the Washington Business Journal.

Goff is currently the editor of Reston Now, a hyperlocal news site owned by Local News Now LLC. She writes and edits online news content, concentrating on breaking news, crime, business, Fairfax County and local government and events.

She previously was editor of the Patch.com site covering Reston, Virginia.

Before that, Goff was a feature writer for the Washington Times from 1999 to 2010. She also spent six-and-a-half years as a sports reporter for the Times.

Goff also worked at the Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel.

She’s an Ohio State University graduate.
