Wall Street Journal editor in chief Matt Murray sent out the following to the staff:

Dear All:

This week we’ve added more news — and thus more depth — to our WSJ apps by incorporating stories from Dow Jones Newswires. You’ll now see a mix of articles from wsj.com and newswires in the Business & Tech, Markets and World sections of our iOS and Android apps. Besides highlighting more stories, it will allow our members to dive more deeply into some important topics. We’ve also simplified sections navigation and design to make it easier for users to get news quickly.

The app changes reflect our commitment to serving our members on our native platforms. They’re a result of close collaboration between the newsroom and the product, design & engineering team. We all owe special thanks to Kathryn Thomas, the project manager who oversaw this complex effort; product manager Jacqui Devaney; Eleonora Kovalyova, Mike Finkel and the mobile engineering team; Glenn Hall, Phyllis Plitch and Rich Conte from Dow Jones Newswires; design director Fernando Turch; and Lydia Serota, Elena Chiriboga and the mobile editors in the newsroom.

You’ll see more improvements to our products in the coming months as we deepen our commitment to our digital evolution.
