The Points Guy, an online site covering travel information and perks, hired two new editorial staffers: Edward “Ned” Russell, senior aviation business reporter, and Zach Wichter, aviation business reporter.
Russell was a former reporter for the industry publication FlightGlobal, where he covered aviation finance of mainline U.S. carriers across America. He worked on the America-US Airways merger, the 787 and 737 MAX groundings, as well as broke news on airline network and fleet strategy, according to TPG’s online announcement.
Wichter was previously with the New York Times, where he led the paper’s aviation coverage, including the 737 MAX crisis at Boeing, JetBlue’s London service, and outages to airline reservation systems.
Both new hires will report to Ben Mutzabaugh, TBG’s senior aviation editor.
“It’s really incredible to see what a force TPG has become in the short time since its launch, but we’re just getting started,” Mutzabaugh said in an interview with TPG. “The challenge of expanding our aviation coverage to include more in-depth reporting is one [of] the things that attracted me to TPG. Now with this all-star team of journalists that we’re assembling, stay tuned for even more great things to come.”
