Strong ratings continue for CNBC

September 19, 2008

Brian Stelter of the New York Times notes that CNBC‘s strong ratings have continued throughout the week even as Wall Steret starts to calm down.

CNBCStelter writes, “Through the first three days of the week, half a million viewers have been watching CNBC during the business day, nearly double the number that watch on an typical day.

“On Monday, the network drew an average of 488,000 viewers between 5 a.m. and 7 p.m.; on Tuesday, that average grew to 523,000, the network’s biggest audience since 2001; and on Wednesday, the number only dipped slightly, to an average of 495,000.

“CNBC counts 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. as its ‘business day’ programming. The three dramatic days of market turmoil rank as the three highest-rated days for the network since Sept. 17, 2001, when the markets reopened following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.”
