Robin Sidel, a former senior special writer at The Wall Street Journal, has joined Novantas, which provides analytic advisory services and technology solutions to banks.

Sidel is a director and will be leading The Novantas Center for the Future of Banking, a new initiative dedicated to the advancement of banking industry knowledge, insight and influence through research and industry analysis.

Sidel left The Journal in January. She had been covering banks and credit cards as well as financial cybersecurity and had been at The Journal since 2001.

“This is an exciting new direction for me, and I’m ready to take my journalism career to the next level with The Novantas Center for the Future of Banking,” said Sidel in a statement.

Sidel was part of a team that won a Gerald Loeb Award in 2011 for breaking news coverage for the flash stock market crash. She also worked for Reuters for 11 years and at a Gannett newspaper in New Jersey.
