San Diego biz reporter Weisberg wins Keen Award

Union-Tribune business reporter Lori Weisberg received the Harold Keen Award for outstanding contributions in journalism Tuesday night at the 45th annual San Diego Press Club Excellence in Journalism Awards.

A Union-Tribune story states, “Weisberg, a Southern California native and graduate of UCLA, covers tourism and hospitality for The San Diego Union-Tribune. She wrote for the Vista Press and The Orange County Register before joining the U-T in 1980.

“In the past 38 years, Weisberg has covered a variety of beats, from suburban communities in San Diego County to San Diego City Hall, downtown redevelopment and the real estate industry.

“Her current coverage includes the battle to expand the convention centershort-term rental regulations in San Diego and SeaWorld.

“Weisberg’s award is named after Harold Keen, who anchored San Diego’s first television news broadcast in 1949.”
