Saks, former Reuters journalist, dies at 79

Rudi Saks, a longtime Reuters reporter and editor, died on Jan. 15 at the age of 79.

An obituary on WestportNow.com (Conn.) states, “He graduated from Wrentham Center High School, where he was salutatorian, in 1957. Rudi met his wife, Sieglinde (Siegi) in Crailsheim, Germany while serving for three years in the Public Information Office of the U.S. Army.

“They married in Crailsheim in 1962. They came to the U.S. together, and he graduated from Boston University with a degree in Journalism in 1965.

“His first job in journalism was with the North Attleboro Sun, and he had subsequent positions with United Press International and then the Reuters news agency for over 35 years.

“He worked as financial news editor for Reuters in New York, California and London. He was a dedicated, principled and passionate journalist, who gave many others their start.”
