Claudia Buck, who has been writing a personal finance column for the paper, has been named business editor of The Sacramento Bee.
Buck begins her new role on May 12, following the retirement of current business editor Jerry Eagan. Eagen’s last day is Friday, May 9. Buck will continue to write her personal finance column in the Sunday Bee as well as assume her new duties.
Buck has worked as an editor in The Bee’s business section since 2005. Amid the financial turmoil of the recent recession, she became the paper’s personal finance writer, helping readers cope with some of the aspects of managing their financial lives.
As a columnist for seven years, she enjoys the personal connection with readers and the chance to help them navigate the often-confusing world of personal money issues. During her Bee career, she’s covered politics in Sacramento’s City Hall and in the Bee’s Capitol Bureau. She previously spent eight years at California Journal, the former monthly magazine covering state politics and public policy, and was its managing editor between 2000-2004.
A California native, she currently serves on the journalism advisory board of her alma mater, Cal Poly State University, San Luis Obispo.
