Wall Street Journal housing, hotels and casinos reporter Chris Kirkham has joined Reuters as its new consumer enterprise correspondent.

Based in Los Angeles, Kirkham was part of a team that broke the story of sexual misconduct allegations involving Steve Wynn, which led to Wynn’s resignation as finance chairman of the Republican National Committee and as chairman and chief executive of Wynn Resorts Ltd.

Earlier, Kirkham worked at the Los Angeles Times covering the California economy and labor issues.

Before that, he was at the Huffington Post, where his coverage of for-profit college chain Corinthian Colleges Inc.’s inflated job placement rates helped spark a federal inquiry that led to its bankruptcy.

His coverage of the California economy and of private juvenile prisons won awards from the Society of American Business Editors and Writers. A native of Texas, Kirkham graduated from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
