Reuters hires Wall Street investigations editor from WSJ

Paritosh Bansal, editor of financial services in the Americas for Reuters, sent out the following staff hire on Monday:

I am delighted to announce that Charles Levinson joins us today as our Wall Street Investigations Editor. In this role, Charles will lead the finance team’s investigative projects and oversee coverage of financial institutions getting into trouble.

Charles comes to Reuters from The Wall Street Journal where he most recently covered white collar crime. Previously, he spent 10 years in the Middle East, covering the Iraq war, Israel’s wars in Lebanon and Gaza, the ups and downs of the peace process, and the sweep of the Arab Spring in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Syria and Bahrain.

Charles grew up in San Francisco. He began his journalism career as a general assignment reporter covering Lake Tahoe for The Tahoe World. He attended the University of California, San Diego.

During his globe-trotting career, Charles has picked up some interesting hobbies. Ask him about the Afghan Ski Challenge and intricacies of amateur dog sledding!
