Dan FreedTheStreet.com reporter Dan Freed has been hired by Reuters to cover banking.

He will start his new job on July 6. He will cover Bank of America and Wells Fargo.

In an email to Talking Biz News, Freed said he will “miss being included in Gregg Greenberg’s Follies shorts but very excited to be in closer proximity to the free hot dogs at Rudy’s on 9th Avenue.”

His stories were cited by The New York Times, Bloomberg, Reuters and CNBC, and he made television appearances on CNBC and Al Jazeera America.

Freed, who has been at The Street since April 2008, has been covering Wall Street since 2000. He has been a reporter for Wall Street Letter, BondWeek, Corporate Financing Week, Real Estate Finance & Investment, Investment Dealers’ Digest and Institutional Investor magazine. He has also published freelance writing in New York Press and The New York Sun.

He was an assistant managing editor at Investment Dealers’ Digest. Freed graduated from Northwestern University with a B.A. in English.
