David Clarke, a Reuters reporter in Washington who covers banking, is leaving for a job at Politico.

In an email to friends and colleagues, Clarke writes, “Hello all – I wanted to let you know I’ve taken a new job at Politico and tomorrow will be my last day at Reuters. I’ll be working as an editor on a new financial services/banking ‘Pro’ publication they are starting soon. I’ve really enjoyed working at Reuters on the banking beat the past two years but I’ve been interested in trying out an editing job so I made the leap when this opportunity came along.”

Clarke has been with Reuters for just less than two years, coming over from Congressional Quarterly. He had been there for nearly nine years, reporting on Congress with a focus on budget and spending issues. He had also been on the homeland security beat.

He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Trinity College and a master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern.
