ProPublica announced Tuesday that Isaac Arnsdorf will join its staff as a reporter covering the Trump administration.

He will start on May 8.

Arnsdorf comes from Politico, where he has focused on money and politics. His recent work includes revealing that the transition wasn’t following its own ethics code; tracing, up the chain of command, immigration officers’ noncompliance with court orders blocking Trump’s travel ban; revealing how Trump’s early executive orders skipped the usual vetting process ; unmasking a pro-Russian lobbying effort targeting Congress; and, most recently, exposing Russian ties to Michael Flynn’s pre-election lobbying contract.

Arnsdorf also formerly wrote Politico Influence, a daily tip sheet covering lobbying, communications and the business of politics.

Before Politico, Arnsdorf covered energy markets in London and New York for Bloomberg News. His work has also appeared in the Washington Post, the Wall Street Journal, the St. Petersburg Times (now the Tampa Bay Times), and the Seattle Times.

“Isaac is one of the most tenacious, resourceful political reporters in the country,” said ProPublica managing editor Robin Fields in a statement. “He’s an exciting addition to our already growing government and politics team, and will help us continue to shine a light on corruption and hold power – at the very highest levels – to account.”
