Paul Monies, the energy reporter on the business desk of The Oklahoman in Oklahoma City, has accepted a job at Oklahoma Watch, a nonprofit news organization.

He starts his new job in mid-October.

“I have nothing but respect and good feelings for the many friends and colleagues at The Oklahoman over the years,” said Monies on Twitter. “It’s been a fun ride!.”

Monies has worked at newspapers in Texas and Missouri and most recently was a data journalist for USA Today in the Washington, D.C. area. Monies also spent nine years as a business reporter and database editor for The Oklahoman.

He is a native of Scotland who graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and has a master’s degree from the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
