New York Times business editor Ellen Pollock sent out the following announcement on Monday:
We are excited to announce that Keith Collins is joining BizDay as a story editor, a new position that will be at the center of the desk’s efforts to tell stories more visually. He will report, edit copy, write code and build a variety of unconventional story forms and layouts, often partnering with reporters, Graphics and Digital Design to push the boundaries of our storytelling.
Keith joins us from Quartz, where he was most recently a tech reporter and data/graphics developer. Prior to that, he had stints at The Associated Press, Bloomberg and was an intern here in Graphics.
Keith has covered a range of topics, from national politics to cybercrime. He’s written about patent trolls and trademark disputes, made graphics about the speed of social change in the United States and even built Twitter bots about ransom payments and political influence campaigns.
He lives in Brooklyn with his fiancée. In his spare time, Keith likes to try building video games. He has yet to finish one.
