GrepBeat, a website covering the tech startup scene in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina, has launched.
It has already launched its two-day-a-week — Tuesday/Thursday — email newsletter and startup directory, and the full news site will follow in early September.
GrepBeat is the brainchild of Joe Colopy, the former co-founder and CEO of Bronto Software. It is run day-to-day by managing editor Pete McEntegart, a former Goldman Sachs banker-turned-Sports Illustrated writer-turned-tech startup co-founder and chief operating officer.
“We’re excited to tell the stories of the Triangle’s entrepreneurs to hopefully bring them to a wider audience, both within the region and beyond,” said McEntegart. “While Raleigh-Durham is increasingly being recognized as a tech startup hub, we believe the national and international perception still lags behind reality. We aim to help change that.”
Competitors include WRALTechwire.com and The Triangle Business Journal.
