Harris writes, “In a post on Facebook on Monday afternoon, Howe said the move by the station is effective this week. NBCUniversal, the media company owned by Philadelphia-based Comcast, is in the process of launching its own NBC station in Boston to be based at the NECN studios in Newton and ending its affiliate agreement with WHDH.
“‘As the ownership ramps up the NBC Boston channel, my skill-set, talents, and background are different from the priorities for NBC Boston, and as coach Belichick would say, it is what it is,’ said Howe in the post. ‘It’s been a fantastic 8-year ride.’
“Howe was previously a reporter and editor at the Boston Globe before joining NECN in 2008 to serve as business editor.”
