Ben Muessig of the San Francisco Chronicle has been hired by the Los Angeles Times as its technology editor.
He replaces Russ Mitchell, who left the Times tech editor position at the end of the year after taking a buyout.
Muessig currently leads the business news department of the San Francisco Chronicle, which covers the changing economy of the city and Silicon Valley.
Before joining The Chronicle, Ben was deputy features editor at the New York Daily News, associate editor at the Huffington Post, and deputy editor of the Brooklyn Paper.
For the past two years, Muessig had been part of a two-person editing team at the head of the business news desk of the Chronicle.
